What is biofeedback?
Biofeedback is an application branch of Psychophysiology, the scientific discipline that studies psychological processes and their physiological correlates.
It is practiced worldwide by psychophysioloists or other professionals with specific skills in the psychophysiological and psychological fields.
The International Society of Psychology defines biofeedback as follows:
"Biofeedback is a mind-body technique in which individuals learn how to modify and control their physiology, thoughts and emotions through the execution of behaviors or mental acts guided by the physiological/biological feedback signals detected through the biofeedback instrumentation, for the purpose of improving physical, mental, emotional and spiritual health."
